Labor Day Weekend is the unofficial end of summer – Autumn starts on or around September 20th. This is usually a good time to think about what you want to do around the house and/or yard before winter. So Friday I went to Home Depot and came home with – no not another hibiscus, shocking I know – some Portulaca plants to put in my dog bird bath/planter. The petunias I planted in June had seen better days. Portulaca (also known as moss roses) usually bloom spring to fall and need sun for their flowers to open. They stay closed at night and on cloudy days.
I planted a few hibiscus in front of the electrical box on my lawn to help hide it. This is the time of the year when the bushes are tall enough to do their job. Here are so shots from the street and from my yard.
I hope you had a good weekend too!
